The End, but never say never

This might be my last post as The Effortless Golfer, an ironic title for a blog that was actually about a great amount of effort. But come to think of it, the effortless part was really referencing the need to free up the golf swing in the spirit of not trying too hard.

Anyway, I've reached some of my main goals - played multiple rounds in the seventies, played off a single figure handicap, had the opportunity to play pennant golf, had a hole in one and even won the odd event. The time is right to ease back on golf improvement 'efforts' and enjoy the game more for its social and physical benefits, not that I didn't enjoy those along the way.

My achilles heal has in recent times been putting, so I'm going to finish with a final technical thought: 'putt as you did as a youngster - no special grip or style or thoughts'. Oh... but just one idea - for short putts use the 'contra-hand' grip, rotate top hand weak and lower hand strong - which minimises clubface rotation. A technical thought, I know, but as with golf we never really say never - the next great shot, the next great round might be just around the corner.
